Community Food Bank of Central Alabama has various volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals. We would not be able to accomplish all that we do if it were not for our amazing volunteers.
***The calendar on this page shows group volunteer events that have already been coordinated and set up with us. Large groups may not schedule themselves using this calendar. Only individuals participating in pre-organized group event or volunteering alone should use this calendar.***
Feeling sick? If you are feeling sick, please reschedule or cancel your volunteer assignment. Handling food products while sick, compromises the safety of those we serve and our employees who are crucial to continuing our operations.
Small Groups and Individuals (1-5 people):
Small groups of volunteers are needed to help sort donated food. The hours for this are flexible and can be any time during our operation hours, however our suggested shifts are between Monday-Thursday 9 am-11:30 am or 1:00-3:00 pm and Friday 9 am-11:30 am.
You may view the calendar on this page to sign up for any shift labeled “Individual Volunteers”. If you would like to volunteer all day, you may sign up for both the morning and afternoon shift. Please just be sure to check in and out for each shift. Thank you! After a brief training, volunteers inspect, sort and pack our food donations into ready-to-go boxes. This role is extremely important as it keeps our food supply safe. Last year over 2,000 volunteers helped us supply millions of meals to neighbors in need!
Large Volunteer Groups (6-25 people):
Please contact us at Volunteer@FeedingAL.org to schedule a large group. The calendar on this page shows group volunteer events that have already been scheduled with us. We schedule group volunteers from Monday-Thursday 9 am-11:30 am or 1:00-3:00 pm and Friday 9 am-11:30 am. Each volunteer shift is 2-2.5 hours. Due to limited staffing and space restrictions, requests for groups larger than 25 require special approval and cannot always be accommodated. After a brief training, volunteers inspect, sort and pack our food donations into ready-to-go boxes. This role is extremely important as it keeps our food supply safe. Last year over 2,000 volunteers helped us supply millions of meals to neighbors in need!

Kids must be accompanied by an adult, and werequire that volunteer groups bring 1 adult for every 6 kids. If you have children underthese ages that want to volunteer, we suggest that you help them organize afood drive and bring the food to the Food Bank. When you drop it off, we willbe happy to give them a tour and explain how food banks work.
We like to stay casual and comfortable at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. We suggest that you dress warm in the winter, with layers you can remove as start moving. Because we are a warehouse, summer months can be very warm. A t-shirt and shorts are recommended during the summer. Close-toed shoes are always required when in the warehouse.
When you pull into the food bank, turn right and park anywhere in our front parking lot.You can come in through the front entrance where someone will be sitting at the front desk or waiting in the atrium to meet you.
